Trenda likes being outdoors. Any chance she gets, you will find her trying to get to the beach to enjoy the sun. She also enjoys gardening, repurposing furniture, playing with her huskies, and spending time with her husband, children and grandchild.
Vice President, Human Resources
Trenda Thompson is the Vice President of Human Resources. She was drawn to a career in Human Resources due to the ability to directly benefit other people’s lives. Trenda believes that an effective Human Resources department hires the right people, ensures they are compensated appropriately, and gives them access to training which will allow them to grow and advance in their careers.
She began with GC in 2000 as a Human Resources Manager, and advanced through the years to her current position. As Vice President, she is responsible for the oversight of all Human Resources functions, including compensation, talent acquisition, employee relations, and HR compliance. A highlight of her career was being a part of building a strong Human Resources department, implementing organizational structure, and strengthening recruiting programs.
A key tenet of Trenda’s management philosophy is accountability. She meets regularly with the HR team, to give them a forum to ask questions, seek guidance, or learn from one another, as well as to update the team on any new regulations or guidelines affecting our industry. These regular meetings have led to a more cohesive HR team, and improved collaborative efforts.
Trenda is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management.
